What is a pre-sentence investigation report and what is it used for?
Video Transcription:
A pre-sentence investigation report is typically a report prepared by a probation officer with the department of corrections in anticipation of a sentencing for a person who’s either entered a plea to a criminal felony or is being sentenced after trial. It usually is a good indicator for the court or the state to try and get a better understanding of who this defendant is so that they can recommend a potential sentence.
