Man Found Guilty of Deadly Orlando Hit and run

In April, Robert Corchado was the driver of a vehicle that struck a four-year-old child outside of Goldenrod Road KinderCare in Orlando. He was charged with a hit-and-run and has now been convicted of his crime. He faced seven total charges, two of which could see him put behind bars for the rest of his life.

Corchado attempted to convince the jury that he had no idea that a car he had struck had rammed into the day car center when he left the scene of the crime, but the jury was apparently unconvinced. The accident occurred when Corchado slammed into the rear of a Toyota Solara on Goldenrod Road near the KinderCare facility. The Toyota driver lost control of their vehicle and hit the facility, where furniture and debris went flying, injuring several people and leading to the death of the four-year-old victim.

To make matters worse for Corchado, he had previously been at a friend’s house before the accident closing a drug deal. Prosecutors argue that he did not remain at the scene because he did not want to be caught with his product. An eyewitness also testified that he slowed down after the crash, only to speed off after the Solara struck the day care center.

In this case, the jury determined that Corchado displayed criminal negligence in his acts, and that negligence led to the death of an innocent child.
